Implementing Honorlock Remote Proctoring Two Days Before Finals
St. Petersburg College (SPC) suddenly saw themselves in a challenging situation: transitioning to another remote proctoring solution only two days before finals.
With nearly 30,000 students and more than 110 degree and certificate programs, they needed to make a change quickly.

Rapid Implementation of Honorlock Remote Proctoring
The college’s previous remote proctoring solution experienced a break in their LMS integration and they did not have a resolution insight. “They did not have a resolution even after we had gotten with you [Honorlock]!” said Eaton.
With their finals two days away, they needed an online proctoring solution that would integrate with their D2L LMS and be up and running immediately. “We were working with Honorlock to do a pilot in the Spring and Andres was able to get us up and running for the Fall finals right away. All of the faculty were able to adapt within the two days; all were able to use it and review the tests. We did it quick!” said Harvey. “The transition was almost seamless,” said Eaton.
Providing Support During Transition
Throughout the transition to online learning and remote proctoring, both Eaton and Harvey expressed their appreciation for Honorlock’s support team. “Matt and Andres are awesome! They are responsive, they do their best, and provide the reporting we are looking for,” said Eaton. They were happily surprised at Honorlock’s ability to manage finals with no hiccups. “We were waiting for the ball to drop during finals, but it never happened!” said Eaton, “We were provided tutorials and tools [for how to use Honorlock], which was great.” Harvey added, “Everything went fantastic. It went much better than we thought it would and we’re very happy with everything so far!”
Remote Proctoring High-Stakes Assessments in Nursing
St. Petersburg’s nursing program adopted Honorlock to remote proctor their high-stakes assessments. “The platform has worked really well for them,” said Eaton. “They have a couple of third-party exams, but they have managed to make it all work well. We have had a good turnout with that.”

Finding the Right Remote Proctoring Solution
Over the years, SPC has used several different online proctoring services, Eaton explained. They used live proctoring services, but the students had difficulties with the overseas-based live proctors and the customer service started waning. Live proctoring also didn’t scale with their increasing student population and limited budget. The College started looking into AI proctoring platforms, which is when Honorlock was contacted. “Honorlock is the best fit for us and going forward for online courses we’re going to continue to recommend it being the fit for facilitating proctored testing for online courses.”
