Karen Yoshino, Ph.D.
Senior Associate, Van Allen Strategies
Karen Yoshino’s decades of experience in higher education, regional accreditation, and standardized testing, combined with her expertise in higher education leadership, result in a unique resource for her clients. Karen’s consulting practice includes competency-based education program design, outcomes assessment planning and design, online program strategy, and analytics for program improvement. Her work in competency-based education includes public and private higher education and corporate and government clients. Karen’s work as an educational consultant began in 2006 as a subject matter expert in assessing student learning outcomes. In this capacity, Karen has helped clients in the US and worldwide, including Hong Kong, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Mexico. Karen recently taught “Curriculum Design for Online Instruction” in the MS eLearning program at California State University East Bay.
John Floyd, Ed.D.
VP of Sales, Honorlock
John Floyd joined Honorlock in February 2023 to build and lead the higher education field sales team. He has spent 20 years in higher education technology, services, and helping institutions with online learning, most of that time with Blackboard/Anthology. He practices a customer-first sales approach, helping customers identify and solve complex challenges around eLearning, focused on long-term institutional success. John’s roots are in service, having grown up in the service industry for 15 yrs, founding and running a non-profit serving LGBTQ Recovery in 2011, and volunteering and serving on the board of an after-school care. John is passionate about helping where he can, and has a strong connection to helping HBCUs. John lives with his partner and two dogs in Austin, TX. John graduated from St. Edward’s University with his BBA and MBA (2004, 2006) and earned his Ed.D from Lamar University in 2021.
