What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?
I want to make an impact because everyone around me is doing a great job making an impact. The leads, Jordan, Andy, Frank, etc. have set the tone and culture – there’s a real work hard/play hard culture here and I love it. I guess what I’m trying to say is that the people here are awesome and I want to work hard because of it. I want all of us to grow personally/professionally and for the company to continue growing (I started when there were around 50-100 people)
What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?
Cultivating and nurturing new product ideas. I’m responsible for the research throughout the design process and for making the initial designs. I’m responsible for overseeing the designs come to life. I help with strategizing with the product leads — Assessing data, conducting user research, etc. to share an informed opinion. Overall, responsible for the user experience of the entire product. If there is something wrong/not working on the UX side, it’s on me to take a look and craft solutions.
What has been your favorite project so far?
I’ve enjoyed every opportunity to work with our internal staff: CSMs, Support, Proctors, and Reviewers. It’s been an absolute pleasure to speak with that side of the house because of their expertise and insights. Shoutout to Ariel, Soderman, Jinela, Andrew, Heather, and Rico. Wouldn’t be here without them! I also really enjoyed this most recent project: Exam Results redesign. Speaking with instructors and admins has taught me more about the industry than any online research or book ever has.
What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?
I grew up wanting to be a teacher. My background is in Engineering. On the personal side… I have a minimalist wardrobe. I have 10 of the same black shirts, 4 pairs of the same white shoes… you get the idea! 🙂
What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?
There’s not a single person here that I don’t want to talk to. Everyone I’ve engaged in conversation with here has solidified the idea in my head that with jobs, it’s the people that matter.
How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?
I owe everything to Jordan and Andy. They’ve trusted me to grow into my role. They’ve trusted me to make decisions, challenge their ideas, and have given me the freedom to explore. Since joining, I’ve been promoted to a Sr. Product Design role. However, I’ve always felt that everyone’s equal. Jordan’s a great boss.
What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?
I feel like we’re still at the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to do, so much room to grow. I’m excited about the opportunity to be a household name when it comes to online proctoring. We’re just now tapping into the corporate market… just now starting with the idea of a mobile app… I’m excited to see the product mature.
