What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?  As a former educator for over a decade, I truly believe in the work that Honorlock is doing to support exam takers and clients.  I am motivated to work hard each day for the people in my care; the amazing proctoring team here at Honorlock. I want to also show my five-year-old twins that it is important to believe in the work, the people, and the company that you are a part of.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you? I love all sports and played Division 1 volleyball at Quinnipiac University. I was recently inducted into my high school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. That was a very cool experience!  I also love to draw and cook.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team? I love the people that I have gotten to meet here. I have learned so much from my colleagues. Everyone brings a unique background to the table with so many different experiences to the company.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?  I started in July 2021 as the Proctoring team manager. That time was one of great learning and growth and I am very proud of how the team has flourished. Now, I have the great responsibility to lead two teams, Live and Review Proctors. It is a very exciting time as we learn from each other and become cross-trained team members.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock? I look forward to furthering my learning and being a part of company and product initiatives. What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

The people! Our team is incredible and they drive me to do my best everyday to see where we can make an impact.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

I handle a lot of the communications between our Sales and Marketing teams, as well as our market intelligence. I also work to support campaigns around our product releases.

What has been your favorite project so far?

I’ve really enjoyed working with our schools and students on testimonials. Working with my own alma mater, UF, on a webinar with AACSB was so cool and felt like I’d come really far since being a student.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

Probably how tall I am! I’m 6’1 and have played basketball my entire life, which is hard to tell in a remote workspace 🙂

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

I love that I can rely on my people to deliver. We always accomplish what we say we will and go above-and-beyond for our teammates!

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

I’ve learned so much from my leadership about higher education as a whole and how to be a better product marketer. I think I’ve already learned a lot more about buying cycles, campaigns, and data which I can’t wait to continue doing.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

I’m excited to continue growing with Honorlock and creating more exciting content for higher education. Whether it’s thought leadership or future partnerships, I think the future is bright for our team.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

First off, the people.  If I didn’t have the team that I work with on a daily basis, none of what I do daily would be as enjoyable and fulfilling as it currently is.  From a professional perspective – throughout my career, I’ve worked in many industries, but being able to work in a vertical that allows me to impact people’s lives in an enduring way drives a different type of motivation.  I’m constantly motivated to work towards more positive outcomes for everyone who interacts with the Honorlock platform.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

My focus has always been the intersection of humanity and technology.  I have always tried to avoid building fancy technology if it doesn’t improve the lives of those that use it.  The goal is always to understand what people want, then try to distill that into what they actually need (often, there are many unsaid things hidden between the lines of a customer request).  During my time here at Honorlock, I have led the technical team in ensuring that we stay true to that mission.

What has been your favorite project so far?

It’s hard to pick a specific project, but I can much more easily point to a period of time – the height of the pandemic.  At this time, the world was put in a position to move all things online in a matter of weeks, with no time to prepare.  During that time, a small team of Honorlock engineers was able to overcome mountains of adversity to be able to support hypergrowth at a level that is truly rare to experience in any industry. We needed to figure out how to support proctors, support, CSMs, instructors, students & the underlying platform through the improvement/addition of product features and functionality… all at the same time.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

Though I live and breathe technical solutions, I actually graduated from an art school which is typically seen as the complete opposite of a technical-minded person.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

The company promotes growth, encourages autonomy, and empowers its people to make an impact.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

In my time here, the pandemic forced Honorlock to go from a  small, scrappy, 40-person startup to a mature growth stage 150+ person company in a dramatically shortened time period.  This has forced me to grow personally and professionally in how I look at and approach problems to ensure that I am thinking at least 12 months ahead in all decisions I make as a technical leader.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

I’m very excited to continue driving the technology to a place where we are leading the academic integrity space not only in higher education, but also as a leader in continued learning across all industries.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

The team. I get to work alongside incredibly creative, passionate, and inspiring people.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

Software development of new features and existing feature maintenance.

What has been your favorite project so far?

Proctor activity tracking.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

Before starting in software development, I was a part time locomotive engineer.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

Awesome collaboration and teammates.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

I’ve learned many things during my time at Honorlock which has allowed me to be a more relevant member of the team.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

To grow and expand my capabilities, allowing me to better support the team.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

Working on difficult challenges alongside a strong team. Strong teammates don’t necessarily make the challenges any easier, but they do help to alleviate the pressure and anxiety that tends to sneak up on you. The people around me continually motivate me to get up every morning and keep pushing initiatives forward.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

At 4 years in, I believe I am the official OG in Engineering, which means that I know where most of the bodies are buried (there is a good chance I buried a good number of them… lol). Outside of leading development efforts and architecting new features, I also provide the history of why current features work the way they work and how they evolved to their current state. I am also an internal champion of YAGNI.

What has been your favorite project so far?

I’m currently driving an initiative to completely overhaul the internal HL dashboard. The dashboard has been begging to be updated for years and in its current state, it provides a very poor development experience when we need to make updates or add new features. The overhaul will introduce new developer tooling that will go a long way in bettering the development experience, which in turn will increase the quality of the features that the team puts out. Working with new toys is always a lot of fun!

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

I love spicy food. I mean really spicy. Like I have an expletive level of spiciness. Anyone that knows my love for spicy foods no longer trusts me when I tell them that something is not spicy. Essentially my taste buds are dead and they can’t be trusted to gauge the spice level of food for a “normal” person, my wife has made this mistake many times.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

I love being challenged. Not only does the product itself provide fun and interesting challenges, but the high level of talent on the development team forces me to bring my A-game each and every day.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

With almost a 4 year tenure here at Honorlock, I have not only grown as a software developer but also as a person. Even when going through hard transitions, the feeling of unity remains strong. I am able to rely on my peers and have confidence they will deliver. I have grown to trust in the team, and not need to be a one-man army.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

I love new challenges, and we don’t seem to be running out of the next problem to solve. Delivering high-quality features that continue to push Honorlock ahead of the competition.

The room for growth. I’m new to the higher education industry and I feel that there’s so much to learn.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

I love helping people stay safe from today’s cyber threats. The threats we face in today’s world are much more complex. Helping people & companies learn how they can defend against these threats is a major driver in getting me motivated daily to make a difference. I also have to say, the technology team I work with is fantastic and that is great motivation itself.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

Anything Cyber Security related…including training, incident investigations, assessing risk, and managing many security tools.

What has been your favorite project so far?

The CIS critical controls audit as well as creating tougher (more believable) phishing exercises are tied for #1.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

I was selected to represent the United States Al-Star team to play baseball in China. I also LOVE helping kids (6-11) learn about Cyber Security through the Garfield-at-Home project offered by the Center for Cyber Safety and Education.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

Three things – Honorlock’s people, Honorlock’s mission & Honorlock’s people. Every person I have met are experts in their areas and are always willing to help.  They are also amazing people, personally & professionally.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

I think the biggest growth area is my personal understanding of how my efforts can directly impact Honorlock’s goals as a company.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

Being a part of Honorlock’s growth is exciting enough but having industry-leading security is just as exciting.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

My team is my main motivation at Honorlock. I wake up every day and want to be the best I can be at my position so that my team can succeed. I am surrounded by brilliant minds, who are all passionate about the product they are working on and testing. Just seeing everyone perform at such a high level makes me want to match their energy and overall output.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

My current position at Honorlock is as a QA Engineer, and essentially, I test new features that are introduced to the client-facing side of the product. Me and the other QA on the External, or “Outpost”, Team work closely with the developers to test tickets and bug fixes in order to validate that they are ready for our clients to use. It is also my job as a QA to spot any flaws in the product or point out anything that could improve the quality of life of our customers who are using Honorlock.

What has been your favorite project so far?

The project I have enjoyed testing for the most at Honorlock would be the Search and Destroy feature. In my two years here, I have watched this feature grow vastly and I am proud to say that I have helped test and offer suggestions to ensure that it works in the best way possible for our instructors. I hope to work on some projects in the future, as I have voiced ideas internally with my team that can potentially improve the way test takers and test administrators use our product, so I hope those will be coming down the pipeline shortly, stay tuned.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

One thing that many people at Honorlock don’t know about me until they truly meet me is that I offer the perfect mix of sports and geek knowledge. I can talk all day about MLB, NHL, NFL, and NBA then turn around and talk about Star Wars, anime, DC, and Marvel for hours. I have actually created friendships at Honorlock with our Canadian employees bonding over NHL and I’ve strengthened many bonds with other coworkers over new Star wars and Anime media.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

Definitely the people, I have met so many great people throughout my time in Honorlock on the support, QA, and PED teams. Everyone is super helpful and we all share the same goal to maintain and produce the best product possible for our clients. I have created genuine bonds with many employees at Honorlock, and this has only strengthened the work we put out to the public because nobody wants to let anyone down and we help build each other up where needed.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

Considering that I started out in support here at Honorlock two years ago in April of 2020, I would say my career has grown exponentially. I worked my way through support and earned a role where I was able to connect directly with the instructors and school admins who required assistance with their Honorlock inquiries. After a while in Admin Support, I moved over to the PED team under the role of QA Engineer, and ever since then, I have worked with the External Facing Personas “Outpost” team where I log and test bugs & feature changes.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

Being on the External Facing Personas “Outpost” team, I get to see a lot of the great new features and ideas that we have potentially coming through the pipeline. I can’t say what exact feature I am excited for most since it would just be too hard to narrow down, but I can say that I am very excited to work with my team and with my QAs to test and make any improvements to ensure that the best product will be going live to our customers. I hope to grow as best I can to keep up with our vastly improving team and product.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been into solving puzzles, for example, those metal ones that you need to find a way to pull apart and then put back together. Every day at Honorlock I not only get to work on challenging puzzles but also work with an amazing team of individuals that constantly push me to learn and do better. It’s really rewarding when everyone around you is so committed to delivering such a high-quality product.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

As a Senior Software Engineer, my main focus is developing new features as well as making improvements to all of Honorlock’s Online Proctoring Tools. A great part of this involves collaborating with my peers to identify the best solutions to meet our goals in an efficient way that allows us to continue to grow and scale.

What has been your favorite project so far?

There is definitely a lot to choose from. My favorite was working on the security initiative where the focus was on improving the security of our platform, there were big challenges in terms of the features we wanted to implement and it was a great collaborative effort to get everything done. It really made me push my boundaries on learning and understanding the project as a whole.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

As a kid, I enjoyed chemistry a lot, and as an adult that transformed into me making killer cocktails.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

It’s 100% the people, every day I’m surrounded not only by some of the smartest people I know but also amazing human beings. It’s a great pleasure to work in an environment where collaboration feels so easy and knowledge is so abundant that there are lessons to be learned every single day.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

Working at Honorlock has essentially sped up my technical growth. I’ve had the chance of working on projects with a lot of complexity for which I had to learn a lot to get the job done. Being part of a team that is so knowledgeable also has driven me to learn more about new technologies as well as improve my skill set.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

There are some great projects planned in our roadmap that I’m very excited to start working on that will certainly challenge my skills as a Software Engineer and continue to drive my career growth. I’m also looking forward to being continually amazed by the quality of work that our team delivers every day.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

The biggest motivating factor is working with the amazing team we have. Being able to collaborate with a group that’s always willing to tackle challenges of any size with the mindset that we will come out of it in a better position.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

I am here to help drive the tech direction to keep us in a place where we can grow, scale and adapt as needed. A large aspect of it is developing expertise with the people around me so we can grow as an organization, not just individually.

What has been your favorite project so far?

We’re currently working on a project where we are modernizing some of our development methodologies. It has been a challenge since we’re a newer team and it’s a new domain, but time and time again the team has risen to the challenge and we’re moving towards our ideal state.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

When I was younger, I was really into hockey and wanted to play in the NHL

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

The enthusiasm to tackle problems in the right way as well as the support for each other in achieving those goals is definitely top-notch.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

I have been able to work with many different groups of people across the company to tackle issues we have as an organization. In doing so, I have gained insight into areas that I normally would not have been exposed to at other companies.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

The thing I’m most excited about is seeing how our team grows and adapts as we continue pushing the boundaries every day.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

My motivation to ensure that I am doing my best each day with Honorlock comes from a variety of sources. In large part, I’m motivated by the fantastic team members that I work with each day. Their desire to make our product as successful as it can be helps push my own motivation forward. I also find that the work we do within Honorlock is very challenging and rewarding to implement. We handle so many unique topics and goals within the realm of what we are attempting to accomplish with our application.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

I work as a software developer on the external personal team, The Outpost, for the Product and Engineering Department of Honorlock. My main responsibilities include researching, planning, and developing solutions to address features and bug fixes required for Honorlock’s online proctoring software. At the moment, I work very closely with the front end of our tech stack. This usually involves handling UI development, making sure the UX of our application is built to the specifications of our designers, and working toward making sure our work is taking accessibility into account.

What has been your favorite project so far?

My favorite project that I’ve helped develop at Honorlock so far has been the student toolbar. I was given the opportunity to helm that project starting with a hackathon week that was held by the engineering department in March of this year. The development goals for the toolbar came from a desire for minimizing end-user confusion on elements such as the calculator or exam guidelines that were somewhat inaccessible to users after launching an exam. It’s easily the most complex piece of code that I’ve written in my career, and I always relish the opportunity to jump back into that part of the codebase to make improvements.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

I am a huge advocate for discussing mental health issues and helping to destigmatize the conversation around mental health in our society. As an individual who has had their fair share of mental health struggles throughout their life, I make sure to not shy away from discussion about concerns such as depression, anxiety, burnout, and others. Thankfully, I’m at a point in life where my own mental health issues have been quelled, and I feel comfortable opening up about how I have dealt with them throughout life. Equally, this attitude is what helps motivate me to keep in consideration topics that Honorlock tries to address on a daily basis, such as alleviating student test anxiety when working with our application.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

I love how supportive our team members are of each other and the open collaboration between team members that occurs daily. I feel that I have the pleasure of working with some of the most intelligent individuals in our industry, and know that I always have someone to back me up. It all amounts to building a fantastic team culture that is inviting, caring, and helps motivate the day to day of what we are attempting to accomplish.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

My career has grown exponentially since starting at Honorlock. I joined Honorlock with the goal of working in a more technical role. At my previous companies, I was working as a lead developer for small teams and helming many of the projects that those companies contracted. Those opportunities helped round out my soft skill set, as I was constantly in charge of various duties such as project management, hiring, and consulting with clients along with my technical duties. That said, working in such a jack-of-all trades position didn’t allow me to grow as quickly as I’d like in a technical manner. My role at Honorlock has allowed me to develop my technical skill set quickly. I’m very happy with the amount of knowledge I’ve acquired around both front end and back end technologies.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

I’m most excited about some of the projects that we have in the pipeline at Honorlock. Our leadership team has planned some significant projects that will push me to learn more about topics such as web extension development and mobile application development. The goals we are attempting to accomplish align directly with my interests in becoming a better software engineer. As a result, I can’t help but be excited about the kind of work I will be doing at Honorlock in the near future.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

I appreciate coming to work every day with the goal in mind to create positive experiences for our customers. There is always something we can do to improve which keeps me busy. I’m always thinking about what we can change to make our customer experience better.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

I am the Customer Experience Manager so my role involves creating a positive experience for our customers. My role is to ensure our verbiage is consistent and that we are creating positive experiences in every single touchpoint of the customer experience.

What has been your favorite project so far?

This might sound odd, but I really love proofreading and making sure our verbiage is accessible, accurate, and easy to understand. Folks have come to me to ask me to proofread any and all materials, and I really enjoy it. I love writing and reading, so even with technology or customer service based things-it’s exciting to make sure what we are putting out there makes sense and is accurate.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

I ran competitively throughout high school and college and now as an adult, I still love competing in running. It’s a dream and goal of mine to run at the Olympic Trials for the marathon in 2024.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

I love working with a team who cares not only about our customers but about each other. I know I can rely on any single member of my team if I have a question or need support on something. It keeps me motivated to show up every morning, because I know I am working alongside folks who care about one another.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

I started at Honorlock only a few months ago, but in that short time I feel like I’ve grown a lot in my understanding of the product, ability to collaborate with others, and feeling aligned with the mission and values of our company.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

I am most excited to continue to see us grow as a team and see how I can grow in my contributions to the team as well. I come from a Higher Education background, so everyday I get to learn something new which is really exciting.

What motivates you to wake up every morning and make an impact at Honorlock?

A strong cup of coffee and the amazing people I work with.

What are your main responsibilities at Honorlock?

My main responsibility is supporting my team to deliver their best work every day. This includes working closely with my colleagues to ensure priorities are aligned and make adjustments as needed like expectations around delivery dates or reprioritizing work focuses, and growing the team through their individual career journeys and hiring to fill roles!

What has been your favorite project so far?

This may not qualify as a project in the most technical sense, and it is still ongoing… but I’ll have to say growing the team has been a truly rewarding experience. In the summer, we split the development team into multiple delivery teams with many roles to be filled for a team to be ideally complete. Since then, Quality roles on all the teams have been filled and processes around their workflows are better defined so all can continue to deliver at scale.

What’s something most people at Honorlock don’t know about you?

I’m team pineapple on pizza.

What do you love most about being part of the Honorlock team?

Getting to work with talented folks to improve processes to scale for our growing team. With my direct team, I look forward to the evolutions of our team culture – discovering and defining how we work best together.

How has your career grown since starting at Honorlock?

In the almost 6 months I’ve been at Honorlock, I’ve had the opportunity to work with various folks across the company. This has helped me build a better understanding of the impact that my team and I can have towards their successes and better identify where I want to be on my career path.

What are you most excited about in your future with Honorlock?

I’ve been fortunate to closely witness the growth of the Security, Technology, Engineering and Product teams and what the delivery of those teams with each new member has been in the past almost 6 months. As we’re still growing in all aspects, I’m excited to see where this growth will take us in the next 6 months and beyond!

Starting this department from scratch has been a privilege. To be trusted by our Executives to hand-pick a team and watch them grow has been so cool and rewarding.

I am a work-hard/play-hard kind of girl! I love to travel, try new and different foods, I’m a nerd for British crime shows, March Madness and chilling out with yoga. I can be go-go-go at work, but after hours, I am pretty laid back.
