The socially-connected nature of the online environment confounds instructors’ efforts to eliminate cheating because of the unique manifestation of students’ need, opportunity, and rationalization to cheat. In this webinar, we will consider technological structures and supports in order to constrain and reduce opportunities to cheat. We’ll also review some specific course designs and conscientious messaging for the syllabus in order to reduce students’ need and rationalization to cheat.
